First of all, I want to state that this Income Report is late on purpose. I figured out and decided that I was going to delay the report because I wanted to get more accurate numbers from Amazon Kindle sales, since that was becoming one of my more important sources of income. Unfortunately, they don’t release the final totals until the 15th of the month. So to allow time for this to come out, I pushed the release of numbers until then.
However, right about that time, our family found out that we had a death in the family and my wife had to fly home to help her mother with the arrangements. I became Mr. Mom for a week and just didn’t have time to pull all that together. So here we are a week later and I’m finally able to get the information added.
The one major achievement I accomplished in the month of May, was finally finishing and posting my wife’s eBook on Kindle. It’s Learn How To Make Micro Macrame Jewelry. She’s been creating her own micro macramé patterns for a little over a year now and posting those for sale on her website (which I developed) and we thought it would be a great idea to pull together a collection of those patterns for publishing on Kindle. That book launched at the beginning of the month and did very well. She sold a nice amount of the books and it continues to sell well. So far in June she’s sold more than she did in May.
Before I get too far ahead of myself, if you had read my previous article, Encouragement Through Income Reports, you will see that I have highlighted other bloggers who operate in a transparent fashion. Being open about their business and encouraging others that you can make money doing what you enjoy. In respect of that process and decision, I’ve decided to do the same. I will be writing an Income Report each month documenting the business and its growth. I just pray that it takes off and becomes something that is worth writing about.
I do need to post an update about my recent podcast launch, the Self Publishing Master Class podcast. Due to the same situation and a crazy busy month, I was only able to record one more episode. I have plans for more in the near future.
Now on to the numbers.
The Income Report – May 2013
Income From My Products:
- eBooks on site: $0
Income From Affiliate Products:
- Amazon Associates $1.06 (Last month: $27.82)
Income from Publishing Company:
- Kindle Book Sales $222.33 (Last month: $82.78)
- CreateSpace Sales $70.88 (Last month: $86.82)
Total Income $ 294.27 (Last month: $197.42)
As you can see, this month I saw a significant increase in income from Kindle, which is primarily because of my wife’s new book.
Overall I had a total of 160 visits for the month of May. The Average visit duration jumped to 2:05 seconds. The number of pages per visit increased to 2.05. And the bounce rate dropped a little to a 58.13%. (you can click on the images below to see a larger version if you need to).
Next image is the Traffic Sources. Twitter had some traffic and as of writing this I have 672 Twitter followers (last month: 640). This continues to steadily grow. If you aren’t already, follow me here: @IngeniousIncome You can also sign up for my newsletter below. The amount of growth on Twitter slowed a bit due to changes with the Twitter API and the software (Tweet Adder) I was using to help manage that.
And last, I have the Search Engine report.
This month is almost gone already and with the family situation and my busy schedule at work, it’s going to be an off month. However, one project I’ve been working on extremely hard, is a new Amazon niche site. I’ve been watching Spencer Haws’ progress in his Niche site project, and that encouraged me to take another shot at creating a new site. As of this writing, that new site is sitting at #12 on Google for it’s keyword and I hope to crossover onto the first page any day now. It’s not earning anything yet, but I hope to see that change once it hits the first page.
I actually really enjoy writing these updates each month because I can look back at what I was thinking a month ago and see how far I’ve come. A lot has happened even though at times I feel like nothing is. I’m excited to see what happens before my next update.
I think that about covers everything for this update. As always, I appreciate your time and I hope you find value here. I’d love to hear your comments or feedback below. Take Care and God Bless!
